Far more lives are lost to diseases caused by a lack of sunlight than to those caused by too much. So it's important to bask at least briefly in the summer sun for benefits such as protection against depression and heart disease. The amount of time you should spend in the sun to soak up enough vitamin D depends largely on your skin pigmentation.
