Prevention
Since the cause of ulcerative colitis is unknown, there is no way to effectively prevent the disease. Medical care focuses on treatment to achieve remission of symptoms, prevention of relapses, and management of the disorder to avoid systemic symptoms, worsening of the disease, and life-threatening complications.
