Prevention

Because the cause of Crohn's disease is unknown, there is no way to effectively prevent it. Medical care focuses on treatment to achieve remission of symptoms, prevention of relapses, and management of the disorder to avoid systemic symptoms, worsening of the disease, and life-threatening complications. Early detection of the disease with imaging techniques can prevent serious complications.
