Breast self-exam or breast self-awareness

Ask your doctor for advice on the importance of examining your own breasts on a regular basis. The guidelines have changed over the past few years in view of the debate over this technique's effectiveness. The American Cancer Society, for example, now tells women that self-exams are an option as opposed to a monthly necessity. To conduct a self-exam properly, you'll want the advice of a physician or breast specialist on the correct technique. The best time during the menstrual cycle to conduct the exam is one to two weeks after menstruation.
