Peer Nominations and the Process Behind Top Doctors

what about a patient nomination? It is often the patient's opinion which is firgotten about but is the most important opinion since afterall they are why doctor's have jobs.
I would listen to a consensus of patients' experiences over a doctor any day.

I live in Ft. Worth, Texas and drive/fly to San Marcus or Austin to see a Dr. Daniel Frederick. I have been to numerous doctors throughout the years including the highest rated pain specialist after having multiple back surgeries. Most of these will write a script for pain and send you out the door.
When I call Dr. Frederick's office, I am penciled in the next day if needed and no waiting time in the office. After thoroughly being checked out by his nurses, Dr. Frederick will examine every aspect of your pain and the causes. He always comes up with a solution to stabilize the pain. However, he is always working on fixing the problem.
I have never had a doctor so thorough or dedicated to a patient in my life. I will continue to spend several thousand dollars a year traveling to San Marcus to see Dr.Frederick. I appreciate his professionalism while explaining in layman's terms any procedure or medication. Getting such help from someone so knowledgeable and willing to explain is very rare. Google his name and the academic achievements or unimaginable.

I work with some of these so called top docs and some of them are by no means the best. I think US News needs to poll the nurses who actually know.

At least one of these people actually boasts on their hospital website that they have been "Named repeatedly among the top 10 neuroradiologists by the U.S. News and World Report, most recently in 2012." Being in this field and being well familiar with who the luminaries in it are, I am incredulous and flabbergasted when I read this on that website. Total baloney to quote this bogus "credential." Who voted for some of these as being the best neuroradiologists. Where is the TOP TEN list?

With the inclusion of several of the people on this list and the exclusion of multiple others, I really think this list has ZERO credibility. Who on earth nominated these people above others? They must be clearly biased, probably a group of close friends nominating each other. BOGUS.

The list is supposedly based "on nominations submitted by other doctors and reviewed by its physician-led research team."
Looks to me like they just went down the list of the local university medical center.
