If you are rating a plastic surgeon, doesn't it make sense to have the clients rate them?? After all, they are the only ones who can tell you how satisfied they are with their surgery, not other doctors! One of the plastic surgeons from Sarasota you listed in your top list has a plethora of post-op clients that wouldn't agree with you. He is known around town among women "in the know" as a disaster, and have the scars (literally) to prove it.

All of the nominations are subjective to their colleagues opinions & common health practices within the U.S. Most healthy patients go to their doctors &rate them on common practices of what is accepted & approved treatment. Many unhealthy patients get passed off & told take this pill or the incredulous statement that I have heard more times than not, "you'll have to learn to live with it". You can not rate a doctor based on anyones 5 star rating system. Many patients are fine getting a pill to take their symptoms away, & most doctors and staff are trained to practice this way. The patients who wants to discover the root of their problem without the doctor simply writing a script are stuck in a system that is unwilling to treat or listen. What this list doesn't help with are finding the doctors who think outside of the box. If I want to look for a endocrinologist who will recognize the lower range of TSH for my thyroid and not the recognized higher ranges which are controversial. It doesn't tell me if the doctor is willing to order the other thyroid tests that most dr's don't order. The list doesn't help you find a gynecologist willing to order the whole range of hormonal testing vs. just the standard 2. There are countless patients in my position that talk openly in blogs about not getting proper care or treatment for their symptoms. They get brushed off because of the doctor's ego getting in the way because they are supposed to know all, right? Wrong, they don't. Each patient is not a cookie cutter patient. Most recently, out of desperation, I looked on this list for a dr in our area who could treat my daughter's undiagnosed Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. I called to make an appt. and they suggested a different dr that has more experience with this syndrome. My daughter clearly has all of the signs listed on one of the countries top hospitals info online, but this thoracic surgeon looks at the MRI, and two x-rays taken and says he doesn't see the cervical ribs that could be causing this issue. My uneducated eye can see the cervical ribs. The chiropractor, the physical therapist, the doctors from 13yrs ago when she was born could all see that she has cervical ribs. This "experienced" dr. could not..and I might add probably would not because most dr's seem to have issues with chiropractors xray films. Yes it wasn't the best picture, but clear as day, you can see she has the extra ribs. This expert was about send us out the door with another misdiagnosis before I protested his findings. When he examined her & found no pulse all the way up her arm (yes she was still breathing), he agreed to look further. I have done more work researching my families health ailments than any dr has given us the time of day for. What we need is a list of top doctors who are willing to do their jobs & actually listen & research & care to solve our real health problems, not just what they were taught in school..to write a script & send you on ur way home.
