Samuel Broder is a former director of the National Cancer Institute (1989-1995), appointed to the office by President Ronald Reagan. He is now the chief medical officer of Celera, a company that helped identify the 3 billion letters of code in the human genome, and now uses knowledge of DNA variability to provide new tests and services for personalized disease management in cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, infectious diseases, and other major illnesses.
