UW Hospital and Clinics
UW Hospital and Clinics is a 493-bed state of the art facility that serves as a regional referral center for Wisconsin and the northern Midwest. With high-level performance for quality and safety, and inpatient satisfaction scores that reach above the 90th percentile, the hospital is frequently cited in rankings of the nation’s top medical centers. Among its major clinical programs are:
• Heart and Vascular Care—a comprehensive program of prevention, expert diagnosis and treatment, ranked among Thomson Reuter’s 100 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals.
• Critical Care—a Level One Trauma Center for both adult and pediatric care with a burn center verified by the American College of Surgeons. Med Flight critical care air transport has served the region since 1985.
• UW Carbone Cancer Center—one of 41 federally designated comprehensive centers for cancer treatment and research, with a network of affiliates that extends quality patient care and access to clinical trials to regional communities in Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
• American Family Children’s Hospital—a 62-bed pediatric hospital adjacent to UWHC, known nationally for treatment of children’s lung diseases, cardiac and transplant surgery and other pediatric specialties.
• Organ Transplant—one of the nation’s largest programs, with patient outcomes consistently cited among the best in the nation, and a nationally recognized organ procurement organization.
• Stroke Program—one of the most comprehensive sets of stroke studies in the nation, including testing of multiple surgical interventions, advanced diagnostic imaging and medications and therapeutic interventions for acute stroke and its after-effects.
UW Hospital and Clinics works closely with its UW Health partner organizations, the UW Medical Foundation and the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. With more than 1,100 physician members, UWMF is the largest multispecialty medical group in Wisconsin and one of the largest in the nation. The UW School of Medicine and Public Health, long known as a leader in interdisciplinary and translational research, is currently implementing a revolutionary new model that integrates traditional medicine, with its focus on individual care and the diagnosis and treatment of disease, and public health, which focuses on health promotion and disease prevention among groups of people.

UW Health Orthopedic and Rehabilitation
Our adult and pediatric orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation experts offer world-class care in spine, sports medicine, hand/upper extremity, foot and ankle, joint reconstruction, orthopedic oncology, trauma surgery, and rehabilitation medicine. -
UW Health Transplant Program
Ranked as one of the largest programs in the US, our team performs more than 600 transplants/year in: pediatric kidney, liver and multi-organ transplants and adult pancreas, kidney/pancreas, liver, heart, lung, heart/lung and islet cell transplants. -
UW Carbone Cancer Center
The UWCCC offers a multidisciplinary approach to care, specialists who treat every form of cancer, access to clinical trials and a regional network allowing cancer patients from throughout Wisconsin and N. Illinois access to improved cancer care.
