Who We Are
Inova Fairfax Hospital, part of Inova Health System, is an 833-bed, nationally recognized medical center located just outside Washington, D.C. Consistently ranked among the top hospitals in the United States, Inova Fairfax Hospital features Northern Virginia's only Level 1 trauma center for treating the most critically injured patients, one of the nation's most-sought-out obstetrics programs, and a Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit.
The Fairfax campus is home to two internationally recognized facilities - Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children and Inova Heart and Vascular Institute. Inova Heart and Vascular Institute is the region's only dedicated cardiac-care facility, housing the most advanced technology and facilities dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
Inova Fairfax Hospital offers a robust organ transplantation program, including the largest heart transplant program in the region and the D.C. area's only lung transplant program, in addition to kidney, pancreas and bone-marrow transplant services.
Inova Fairfax Hospital is consistently recognized for excellence and innovation, having recently been named one of "America's 50 Best Hospitals" for 2009 by HealthGrades, a leading independent healthcare-ratings organization. The hospital was the first in the Washington metro area to receive the prestigious Magnet designation for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The campus houses a state-of-the-art education and research center, opened in 2008. The Claude Moore Health Education and Research Center houses the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine - Inova Campus as well as the School of Pharmacy - Inova Campus. The Center is also home to the Center for Integrated Research, home to state-of-the-art research and patient access to revolutionary therapies and treatments.
