Whether it’s mac ‘n cheese or Chinese takeout, you have no more than four days to eat leftovers. And that means left over, not left out. Refrigerate your cooked food right away. If it’s been left out for more than two hours, toss it; that time frame leaves your food vulnerable to toxic bacteria, which cooking won’t necessarily kill off.
