Call them the : Throw-Away Generation

Hope all you lazy parents, chemical companies, drug companies, MDs, food processors and GMO breeders are loving this.

This is another example why the nation needs to stop being polite about how fat the population is getting. Being over weight causes health problems and society has become an enabler. Fat people use the handicap parking so they walk less. Some use motorized shopping carts and walk even less.

When they walk, they block aisles in stores and as they waddle through parking lots they block traffic.

These people ooze over armrails in movies and airplanes. In short, being fat costs society money, production and inconvenience.

And the whole time, society is supposed to be polite towards these wads of flesh and act like nothing is wrong. Well, something is wrong. These fat people raise fat kids and they pass their lifestyle on to the next generation and along with it, they pass on all the health problems that eventually society has to help pay for.

People need exercise. Get a dog and walk it daily. Park some distance from the store and walk to it. People need to control how much and what they eat. There is nothing wrong with fruit for a snack. Learn to drink coffee or tea without sugar in it. Knock off the sweets as a daily habit and use it for a treat once-in-awhile. In short, get moving and think about what you eat and drink.

Being fat is a choice. If it were not a choice, there would have been a lot of fat people when I grew up and they were not there. So in my lifetime, 68 years, we have gone from a society that had few fat people to one where being fat has become the norm. That is not a genetic problem, it is a problem of litle discipline.

"I don't know what would cause more autoimmune disease in type 1,"

Think water.

As the Mom of a type 1 diabetic I would like to thank the author of this article for explaining the difference between type 1 (juvenile) and type 2 diabetes. It is so frustrating when well intentioned people tell my daughter (who is an elite athlete) that she could cure her diabetes with health foods, vitamins, exercise, etc. There is no cure for type 1 diabetes... it is a disease that means a lifetime of finger pokes, injections, or living with an insulin pump. I wish more people knew that there is nothing she did to cause it and nothing anyone can do to cure it.

In a report entitled "America's state of mind" by Medco, it is reported that antipsychotic drugs can be traced to increases in Diabetes in children. "There is evidence that the risk of diabetes and metabolic disorders from using atypical antipsychotics could be much more severe for pediatric patients than adults." You can read the entire post, including links to the aforementioned report and the ACHS report "Antidepressant usage in persons 12 and over", at http://wp.me/p1mEWh-3C. If you search the internet using the words children psychotropic diabetes, you will see thousands of hits on the subject. Why are we not considering this connection, as the onslaught of increase in diabetes in children roughly matches the huge expansion of psychotropic drugs in children?
