Concussion resulting from a blow to the jaw are the most preventable. A condition known as the boxers "glass jaw", has been linked to temporal mandibular joint dysfunction. This disorder of the tmjioint often results in dizziness, the sensation of seeing star, nausea and headache in the general public. These are exactly the same type of symptoms in those with PCS. Evaluating for this diagnosable condition is key, U.S. Army research is now exploring this connection, other should follow. While not all concussions are related to the jaw, those with a history of concussion and Tmd, should be addressed prior to play.
