There needs to be more work on this as at the moment it is too expensive and could just generate too much information to be useful - after all not all mutations are harmful. However, it's exciting science and while some say that this will simply lead to more abortions, it could also be viewed as a way to help parents prepare for the birth of a baby with additional needs, or allow physicians to start treating disorders from birth, improving the outcomes. http://www.genome-engineering.com/researchers-map-a-babys-genome.html

Seems to me that with this technology, one can also take a saliva test from the man and dertermine if he is the father.
A paternity test can be done BEFORE the child is born.
Very interesting stuff!!!
At nine weeks we can no without doubt if it is a boy or a girl using this technique!
We would not have to wait for the "boy/girl parts" to appear on an ultra-sound.
Very interesting possibilities.
