Engaging kids and making it fun are key. Each week our kids pick a new food they'd like to try, prepare the recipe, and together we share it at our family "New Food Night." It's a wonderful way to spend family time together and get everyone eating healthy together.

These area all good however you missed one critical component. Get the kids involved. At ZisBoomBah.com, we have studied thousands of kids and parents and we see one ever present task that gets kids to eat more healthy foods- involvement. Without this kids have no voice and no choice therefore have no buy in. Every person asks "what's in it for me?" you need to ask your kids "what's in it for them" and be armed with the answers.

Food is no longer a passive experience - it is now an fully engaged and conscious choice!

I'd add something to this list: make it fun! I struggled with my picky eaters, until I turned healthy eating into a game -- bonus points for trying new foods and good manners! That was the secret for our family. Making it fun for the kids makes it easier for the whole family, and brings everyone together for quality time at the table.
