C Wilkins Correlation does not prove causation and a low carb diet is not a high protein diet it is a high fat diet.

After suffering from diabetes for over 20 years, going to his doctor faithfully every 3 months and doing what he was told, my husband was morbidly obese and suffering horrible effects of diabetes. I discovered the low carb plan. My husband lost 100 pounds on a low carb high protein diet. That was in 2003. He has never put it back on. In 2003 within 3 months of going on low carb he came off of 43 units of insulin. Within 12 months the severe neuropathy in both his feet was gone. He came off of the pain medication Neurontin that he had been taking for over 15 years for the neuropathy pain. He came off of diuretics after 30 years of being on that medication. Atkins had it right. We are living proof of how to beat diabetes with a low carb and exercise lifestyle. marythediabeteslady dot com

Eating right is key to staying and keeping fit. The fact is that what you put into your mouth makes all the difference in how much you weigh and how you feel. I was also very fat once, and it was because I ate plenty of junk food. Then, I learned about a program called The 31 Day Fat Loss Cure that laid out a whole system on how to eat properly and exercise accordingly. I learned that eating starchy foods like whole wheat, oatmeal, rice, bread and other carb-heavy foods actually made you fat, despite being called "health" foods. I lost over 30 pounds in the first 31 days of this program. If you're interested in losing weight naturally without hours upon hours of boring exercise, I highly recommend looking at my review for this program below and giving it a try. There is a 60-day money-back guarantee, too. Trust me, you won't regret it!

I could not disagree more with these results.

My husband lost lots of weight on Adkin's Diet in 2001. He was healthier than he had been in years. BP normal, Lipids normal and no signs/symptoms of Kidney Disease. Then in late August of 2002 he developed swelling in both legs. Continued to get worse until he made appointment to see Family Doc to get checked. Urine done in the office showed Proteinuria off the charts high. After more labs studies and a visit to a Nephrologist for consult we found out per Kidney Biopsies, that he developed Kidney Disease. Within a short period of time he developed Nephrotic Syndrome with the Kidney Disease. Currently he has Stage 4 Chronic Kidney Disease. For the last 3 years he has been following a very low protein diet in trying to maintain kidney function for as long as possible. Protein (especially animal Protein) is no friend of the kidney. Research at Hopkins has proven that animal protein is very hard for the kidney to process. Essential Amino Acid supplements will give one the same benefit only without the destruction to the kidneys.

It is my firm belief that anything that puts you into ketosis, such as Adkins diets can in no way be of healthy benefit....

My husbands diet is one of the most important aspects of trying to hold off dialysis as long as possible.
