This looks quite reasonable taken that earlier estimates by Driscoll 2005 http://www.who.int/quantifying_ehimpacts/global/4airbornexposure.pdf estimated that the Attributable Fraction for WHO Region AMR A including USA and Canada was 11% for mortality. Morbidity was considered some 2/3 of that as asthma mortality "reflecting the fact that globally a great

deal of asthma occurs at younger ages". In USA 9% looks very realistic, while mortality AF could be then slightly more than 11%. Jukka Takala, ED, WSH Institute, Singapore.
