U.S. Liver Transplants Declining

If doctors had discarded my donor's liver 22 years ago based on the strict requirements that are now imposed, I would have died. My donor's liver tested positive for nonA nonB hepititis which we now know as Hepititis C and I am still glad that I received that liver rather than none at all.

This is a travesty! While younger people should try to wait for a 'perfect' liver there are older or sicker people that that should be given the facts re the live available and decide for themselves if they wanta to take the risk. At best, a liver transplant or any transplant, for that matter. I bet alot of older or have been on a machine for years just might take that chance. At best, perfect liver. is still a long arduous process. The liver can function at 10% so why not go get that 10% of the patient wants that?
