I am 51 years old and been listening to loud Rock n' Roll since my teen years and I can assure you I do not abuse drugs. This is one of those articles that no research was used. Just typed up crap put on the internet. Go back and do some research. Articles like this really irritate me.

correction* You are targetting any music lover blatantly

Goose of NC 5:12PM June 01, 2012

Wow, this is absolute the worst article I have ever read. It makes zero sense. I blast music and I drink occasionally because I like to. I play my mp3 loudly so I don't have to hear others speaking while I try to pay attention to the music. I don't smoke marijuana. You're being sterotypical towards a specific group of music goers. You blame the music. I blame poor parenting. People choose to participate in unprotected sex. People choose to drink. Music is who we are.

way to sensationalize a correlation

who pays these people to do these pointless studies?

correlation does not mean causation

scienceman of AL 4:32PM May 30, 2012

This is an example of correlation not being equivalent to causation. It is very possible that there are other common behaviors among certain teens that point to the same things. For example: I know that enjoyment of loud music is indicative of an extroverted personality. Extroverts rely heavily on approval from their peers, this could in turn, make them more susceptible to peer pressure.

Why was this article even written? Pure boredom?

Teens' Love of Loud Music Tied to Drinking, Drug Abuse... But researchers say it's not clear how they're linked...

Whaaaaat????

Hey, and Hip-Hop turns you into a gangster...

and rainbows make you gay...

see how silly all these sound?

Back in the day, there were people just like this, warning of the dangers of that new- fangled rock n roll, and the fear of Elvis' swivel hips and the Beatles' long hair. We may have suffered some hearing loss from loud concerts and headphones, but it didn't lead to anything other than growing up with awesome music! I'm guessing the study author is the father of three teenage girls, and he's sweating it out! Take an enema, and look to other, probably more valid and real ways you have lost control of your family.

This is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever read.

Stop being stupid, people.

I distinctly remember this same conclusion from studies in the 1970s. The music was on stereos, not MP3 players, but the pot and sex consequences were the same.
