This is so sad! I am an American Heart Association CPR Instructor and I am sad to read the results of this study. http://www.blssacramento.com

What this story doesn't make clear is whether medical crews who arrive on the scene give black patients CPR or AED treatment. If black heart attack patients are arriving at the hospital without restarted hearts, the question is did the medical crew attempt to restart those patients' hearts. Please be clear about this because the answer to that question is critical. Are black heart attack patients simply being left untreated by medical first responders?

Skin color has nothing to do with medical treatment by bystanders! If anything it has more to do with education and social economic factors of the people around the victim. Quit this b.s. of woe is me because I'm a particular color. I'm getting tired of all this black v white crap... Skin color has very little affect on one's outcome in life. It is values, beliefs, friends, family and culture...which help dictate your health, your wealth and your life's outcome...

To Richard. First one needs to be educated on how to perform CPR and have an AED available. This sounds more likely why this study shows this kind of data. This study just shows the need for them to be made available in more neighborhoods and classes in CPR and use of an AED be made available.

Before one would hesitate to assist a person in cardiac arrest. One should consider their self in cardiac arrest and in need of someone to perform CPR or AED on their behalf.

This article doesn't consider differences in funding, training, or even the availability of working equipment among emergency medical teams in different regions of the country. Jumping immediately to racism insults the work of EMT's everywhere. The media should be mindful of how the selective manipulation of information can fuel more racism than the actual effect about which they write.

This sounds completely bogus! Where did you do your study? I for one would help anyone that needs it reguardless of color. Come on folks color has nothing to do with it, additude does though. Change your additude people! For the love of God, change it.

This is news???? There is more racial divide now then ever and we can thank the "change" president for this type of "news"! Its pathetic that this was even posted as news. So sick of the double standards in the "new" America everything is wrong if you don't agree or you're a racist if you don't agree ect. The country needs to be flushed down the toilet and started fresh again!!!!

I agree with JOHN WARREN, and really? "Blacks"? Is this the 60s?

NickNick of CA 3:19AM May 13, 2012

Are you kidding? The media has done more to fan the flames of racism than all of the biggots in history. If there is not a huge problem...they don't have a story.
