Yes- isn't it terrible when your patients get emotional and need you to respond to them as fellow humans? Any practictioner can comfort the patient and then take a moment to walk through developing a safety plan if the woman isn't ready to leave yet. I am not sure how 'screening' is going to Prevent abuse. By the time the 'screening' takes place, so has the abuse.
