Great article and so glad somebody finally wrote about something we've known about for 18 years in the Geri-Fit strength training workout for older adults. Strength training for seniors should be mandatory exercise for people over the age of 60. The sooner you start, the better. Benjamin Franklin exercised with dumbbells everyday. He said they contain a quantity of exercise in a handful of minutes.

My mom was very active all her life, she did much walking, used to climb stairs rather than take the elevator, nothing intense, just kept busy. She

said it made her feel good mentally and physically, claimed it was the reason why she slept very well.

She was a businesswoman who interacted with many other individuals daily, she was a happy woman. Mom retired at 78. I lost her in April 2012, mom was 98.

I'm sure her mental and physical stimulation throughout life gave her longevity. Just to add, if she didn't have something nice to say about someone, she said nothing at all.

"I can't think of a mechanism off-hand why one (exercise method) would work and not the other."

That's easy. Ever lifted weights? It requires an extraordinary amount of focus and concentration. Calculus is not as hard as weight ligting.

Sounds pretty obvious that the brain functions in the growth mode building muscle and at the same time expands the need for brain activity thereby keeping an active body and mindhealthy and alert and. In response the memory has something NEW to remember

Researchers in London showed that the key to reversing dementia and heart disease is to use a speciialized diabetes diet.

All Alzheimer's and heart disease can be reversed in many people by using a specialized diabetes diet. This was proven in Scandinavia News. You may not have diabetes but Alzheimer's is related to blood sugar. Alzheimer's and diabetes has risen at the same exact level over the last 30 years. A specialized diabetes diet in Denmark was shown to improve memory in Dementia and Alzheimer's sufferers.

I wonder if the results are due to people having to concentrate more on what they are doing when weight training...

One has to actually think when lifting weights, while walking/jogging requires little thought... hmmmm...

Everything in moderation.

I am 73 and felling like 35 or younger. I walk, jump rope, some weights, some vodka, some wine and hang around young people with energy. Want to see my picture? I eat ½ healthy and ½ who cares. I take victims and when feeling Horney i sit on my liberator. WHY. How many times does a man pay for entertainment, movies dinner and dancing and she says, I like you, I would like to see you again. WHAT FOR ANOTHER FREE MEAL? I registered a url called www.whynotgodutch.com

I took a lady out for dinner last night. She looks at the menu and orders scallops at $29, 2 glasses of wine $18 and I shared the salad $8. What the _ _ _ _

God bless women. Its no wonder men die first.
