I'm 34 and have suffered with migraine since the age of 10. My events tend to be mercifully spread weeks or months apart, but tend to occur in clusters when they do happen. A migraine for me can last up to two weeks before I feel back to "normal," and then it's always a waiting game until the next one. I've lost many, many weeks of my life to this ridiculous disorder. I did finally begin taking preventative meds a couple years ago and have indeed seen some improvement. I currently take a combo of propranolol and amitriptyline for prevention, as well as Maxalt for "rescue" at the onset of my aura. However, I just scheduled an appointment with my doctor to pursue some pain medication because I'm still losing productivity due to the lingering effects of migraine head pain, which can indeed be debilitating.
