Obese White Women Shying Away From Colon Cancer Screening

Another big deterrent for many many people is that colonoscopy is very expensive and often, insurance does not cover screening colonoscopy procedures.

Now, I see that an panel of physician organizations are recommending that 10 year repeat colonoscopies for those whose first screening was negative for polyps or other colon pathology, be considered an example of wasteful use of diagnostic testing, as a routine procedure. I presume that if one has a family history of colon cancer or if one has polyps, the followup would be recommended.
