Physicians have an opportunity and responsibility to "lead the way" as better health role models. They are the best position to influence their patients.

Doctors need to model good health to their patients. Otherwise, where is their credibility? I cannot imagine being in the role of "healthcare provider" and being the quintessential bad example of "what not to do".
Furthermore, If I am sitting in front of an obese, cigarette smelling physician, why on earth would I believe in or follow their recommendations?
