Too Many Americans Skipping Colon Cancer Screening

I just looked into the cost of a Colonoscopy and they range anywhere from $2,000 to $6,000.

Why not issue vouchers to folks uninsured folks over 50 to have one done every ten years to help keep them out of emergency or cancer clinics? Or set up a ten repayment plan with interest?

Sounds to me like hospitals would rather make the extra cash treating the cancer!

As with any preventative procedure there's very little, if any, incentive for non-insured people schedule appointments because of the cost.

The irony is that when a condition is serious enough to require surgery it happens in the Emergency ward and ends up costing hundreds of times more.

Hopefully the cost of preventative care can be radically reduced to prevent higher costs down the road.
