Health Tip: Help Prevent Eye Problems

As you get older

February 29, 2012 RSS Feed Print

(HealthDay News) -- Your vision may weaken as you get older, but the Cleveland Clinic says there are things you can do to maintain the health of your eyes:

  • Schedule regular visits with your doctor to screen for conditions that can affect your vision, such as diabetes.
  • Visit your ophthalmologist once every year. The exam should include pupil dilation if your family has a history of diabetes or eye disease.
  • Have regular glaucoma screenings.
  • See an eye doctor right away if you have any trouble with your eyes or vision.
