Then maybe Medicare needs to change its criteria for (requiring a low C-peptide level) in Latent Onset Type 1's who are requiring a pump.

I have always suspected I was still making some insulin for many years after I was diagnosed. This is how I could survive on one shot a day for ten years!

I have aptient who came to see me she is about 28 years and was on Insulin her BMI and waist were WNL. I checked her Fasting C-peptide which was within low normal of 1.2, Anti Gad and IA-2 antibody negative she has Diabetes for over 4 years

Would she benefit from GLIP- 1 therapy? OR DPP4 inhibitors or Metformin?

The key to curing type 1 autoimmune diabetes is focusing on the immune system's attack of the pancreas, not transplanting beta cells. Once the immune system stops attacking the insulin producing and glucose monitoring beta cells, they can regenerate on their own, much like a bruise heals or skin regrows. The body has the power to heal itself but it needs help in correcting a rogue immune system. Dr. Faustman, Dr. Burt, and Dr. Yong Zhao have all produced amazing results in humans by addressing the immune system malfunction. Dr. Yong Zhao's research is especially trail blazing and powerful and has shown remarkable results. Dr. Zhao heals the immune system by introducing the rogue T-cells non-invasively to adult stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood which retrains or re-educates the immune system. Once the immune system is healed, beta cells regenerate on their own as evidenced by increased c-peptide production where there was none or little before treatment. His results were achieved in patients even with long-term type 1 autoimmune diabetes. Islet cell or beta cell transplants are not needed or necessary. The pancreas is not sick, the immune system is sick and that is what should be addressed in treating this disease. Dr. Zhao's research is breath taking and trail blazing.
