Respiratory Virus Killed 8 Military Recruits After Vaccination Program Halted

I have never known anyone or heard of anyone getting adenovirus, only stories such as this one about military recruits. What is happening in these training centers that recruits are getting this extremely rare virus and dying from it? I don't think lack of vaccine is the problem here.
