I have had to use an epipen on my daughter several times and it is very easy to do. The needle is long but thin and doesn't hurt too much.

My daughter has told me that the discomfort of a reaction along with the feeling of impending doom is far worse than the epipen.

We have delayed giving it (in the early years) and it took days for the swellinng to completely go away and other times I gave it immediately and she was asymptomatic by the time the ambulance arrived.

Carry it and use it. Don't be a statistic!

Thanks ,for sharing this article . I had to use my son's Epipen for the first time on Tuesday. Everyone should be trained on how to use a Epi pen. I am going to show everyone who is around us how to to use the Epipen. You ,never know when you may need it. The Epipen saved my son's life, his lips were blue and had 3 breathing treatments and the Epipen helped open his air ways. Thank for the Ep ipen & Prayers.

I have had to use my 4 yr old sons epi pen twice within the last 2 months on him. I cried each time I gave it to him but knew it was a life and death situation. If I would of hesitated his dr said, he could of died.

We go no where without his epi and family has to know how to use it even if we are just at Grandmas, because if I'm in another room then Grandma has to react quickly and not hesitate. He turns quickly and if family members are prepared to help when he needs his epi, it can save his life.

Great article and very informative.
