My 18 Month old son was stung tonight by a bark scorpion and was on deaths door without the anti-venom (4 doses worth) my son would not be with us. His life was saved by this miracle of modern science.

Our 1 year old son was stung by a scorpion last night, and luckily was able to recieve the antivenom after being transported from a hospital that wasn't part of the study to one who was. We were very impressed with the antivenom and would not hesitate to use it again if our child was stung by another scorpion. Within about 30 minutes he went from vomitting, eyes rolling back in his head, difficulty breathing, screaming and fighting with all his might in distress to peacefully resting in our arms. It took 5 doses, due to his severe reaction, but we were discharged a few hours later with a boy who could rest at home. There were no side effects and as a parent I was so relieved that this was available to alleviate the symptoms of his neurotoxicity due to a scorpion sting.

That's the FDA for you. Ensuring maximal human suffering in the name of "safety" for over 100 years! Of course they don't actually do anything to ensure safety... unsafe food and drugs get onto the market all the time. There *is* nothing that can be done to ensure safety. The FDA is just a gigantic money and time wasting bureaucracy. Just remember folks, every time some FDA moron steps up to a podium and says "This new drug that we just approved (after probably a decade of delay and billions of dollars in costs to the drug company) will save the lives of 10000 people per year", that means there are 100000 people dead, thanks to the FDA, and the price of the drug now that you can get it is 100 times what it should be. Your tax dollars, hard at work, regulating your life (and death).
