I can't agree with either postings. Whether or not the U.S. decides to "federally" fund DOES matter. (During previous administrations) Labs had machines they couldn't run, literally taped off because of the restrictions put on the research. Yes, it will happen every where in the world regardless, but I ask this: Since when has the United States sat around and waited on other countries to make these breakthroughs?

These embryo's are being created and thrown away EVERY DAY.

This is what fertility treatments rely on! They make numerous embryos and hope that one implants, and if one does, the rest are discarded. Is it better to throw those lives away in the trash than very likely help save thousands? It will be YOUR life someday that needs it.

This is not something that the American people want. Obama and his cronies do not need to have access to stem cell research. I fear for the American people that they will be selected as the Aryan race in Germany

Ladies and Gents: here it is: whether or NOT our government funds ESSR is immaterial. Other goverments have and will continue to fund it.wwc333333333 The research has continued underground. Such is the case for all underfunded study with global impact and with potentially lucrative applications. So I wouldn't worry about the politics of ESSR. It WILL be researched, used and applied to all of us whether we 'approve' or not. The idea that we have control over what happens in multinational pharmaceutical environments is a naive illusion. Whether you 'want' your tax dollars being spent in such a way or NOT, has ZERO bearing on what truly happens.
