"but it sure doesn't work as well as what nature did first :)"

No doubt, little does work as well as nature intended! It makes the best sense to buy local eggs, organically raised in a human environment. There is no price difference during most of the year, but even if they are a little more expensive, I think it is worth it. Plus they taste better, and there is less fuel costs and environmental impact due to no long distance shipping, with the required refrigeration and all. Most people are deluded into thinking the mass produced 'factory' eggs are somehow less likely to pick up harmful bacteria.

We'd raise our own laying hens but we live in town and our small yard is already full of vegetables and fruit trees.

The egg recall is not going over easy,

Recalling gets folks scrambling, oh so busy.

From a sunny-side view,

It boils over in a few.

Are half-baked jokes about eggs all that cheesy?

unfortunately the bacteria are inside the egg Brett. over easy eggs are a hazard. eat well cooked scrambled....

As the title says, egg shells are porous, and bacteria can and will cross through and into the "white" of the egg. Eggs naturally have a "bloom" on them that prevent bacteria and other nasties from entering (and harming growing chicks), but in commercial operations, this is washed off and mineral oil is applied...but it sure doesn't work as well as what nature did first :)

I have a carton of eggs from Hillandale Farms. After eating them, my husband and I both said they tasted "funny" or "different". I have had mild nausea and GI cramping with SEVERE diarrhea for the last 2 weeks. I have had no idea why I've had these symptoms, so I went to see my family physician the other day, who ordered a battery of blood tests. I will be phoning her on Monday to tell her about the eggs. I will also be keeping what I have left of them for possible testing since I live in Pennsylvania, and the recall says nothing about a recall for PA.

Not sure why we can't just thoroughly clean our eggs to remove Salmonella. I started using a food wash called Eat Cleaner. The Poultry wash cleans chicken and can be used on eggs, too. Kills Salmonella and E.coli. Is it just me or do all these recalls just seem wasteful when there's a solution?
