Here is the problem I see; currently we are paying out tax dollars for the FDA and the USDA to monitor food production with very little impact on the safety and efficiency. We the people actually depend on the integrity of theses companies to provide quality product for consumers’ to purchase. Other issues with food safety and the ability of USDA to inspect food quality is totally at the border. While we have NAFDA installed to allow food into the country at no cost; this also allows other country’s to sell products with in the USA, without the food safety insurance from regulations that have been installed by our government and the FDA/USDA. Would anyone agree that any product coming into our country have an inspection done at the boarder buy our government agencies for the security of our citizens. This might help to control other environmental issues that could be enforced, such as pesticides. This inspection would ensure our safety for our children and quality of life that our constitution claims we have despite the convenient truth of EPA violation that are more prominent in other countries of which we receive our produce.

Great way to thin out the species. Can we send the bad eggs to the rest of the bad eggs in the U.S. Congress?

Let clean of food manufacturing and how we raise cattle, chickens and everything that we eat. We are killing ourselves from poor quality food, and also from fast food. We are what we eat, and I feel very sick and I am going to do something about it

One more reason I raise my own chickens. Nothing is better then home grown and you can control what THEY eat and how clean an environment they have. The do not take much space and if you are roosterless, they are pretty quiet (except for laying time). Check your area, you may be able to have a few chickens too. They also make great pets if you handle them regularly and early.

No problem in my camp, my fresh, delicious eggs are organic, free range, and I even know the local farmer. Time to shut down factory farming altogether and return to a local, sustainable and health oriented agriculture system.

Is the problem inside the egg or outside the egg? How much of this problem is from the excessive heat this summer? "Bad things" are always on or in our food to some degree. What set off this "outbreak?"

Yes, why not think like that, at first part of this year, was the Pistachios, and another kind of "crisis", I don´t know why or whta they want, but really I'm suspecting they want all of us with fear ... Or dead.

There has NEVER been a case of salmonella involving free-ranging chickens...factory farming is as bad for the eaters as for the eaten--you are what what you eat eats!

Jonathan of NJ 11:56AM August 21, 2010

either get them at your farmer's market, from a neighbor who has chickens or raise your own chickens. taste better, are better for you, are gotten from healthy chickens who are happier animals. yes they cost more, but they taste so good you will never eat a factory chicken egg ever again...or for that matter a factory-grown chicken either.
