When this happened in the UK several years back they ended up destroying millions of chickens.

In 1988 a junior health minister, Edwina Currie, made the statement “Most of our [UK] egg production is infected with Salmonella”. Sales of eggs plummeted 60 per cent overnight. The loss of revenue forced farmers to slaughter four million hens and destroy 400 million unwanted eggs. The boycott of eggs and egg products by British consumers that followed almost destroyed the British egg producing industry.

Compulsory slaughter of Salmonella-infected poultry.

Compensation for infected flocks.

In the 10 years following Edwina Currie’s statement, egg consumption in Britain declined dramatically.

I ask again, what are they feeding the chickens? Probably crap as per usual. Mad cow disease "Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy" was caused by feeding the cows contaminated feed -- feed that contains animal proteins (from sheep or cows) What have these chickens been fed, rotten turkey or rotten chickens?

Egg being recalled since April.!! How old are these eggs people are eating for goodness sake? Where are they being kept? Also, how dare they advertise FRESH EGGS. Fresh to where? The store you bought them from?

Although the incidence of salmonella in eggs can be reduced, it cannot be eliminated.

If you cook your eggs thoroughly, you will not have a problem as cooking kills the salmonella.

Now while this scare is going on what may I ask is Obama and his cohorts doing behind our back while our mind is on the eggs?

Be ready, they going to hide the eggs and then, you will pay twice or triple.

Poor people like myself will suffer the greed of the farmers together with markets that represent the monopolist. They rather to trashed the eggs inested to give us to us. what a shame.

It's time to hold our Tax FDA Administrators/Inspectors accountable for what they failed to do.

My thoughts are: Remove top Administrator

Remove Inspectors responsible for Ohio Egg area

Last, but not least file criminal charges to both of the above.

For God sake DO NOT PROMOTE THEM

Anyone who thinks that government regulations are too restrictive to big business needs to look at all of the deregulation that has taken place under every Republican administration in the last 30 years. This, as well as the economic disaster we find ourselves in, are effects of the deregulation of industries that we rely on for our security and wellbeing allowing greed to drive the markets rather than conscience.
