This study is bogus and misleading. It takes 17,000 deaths of children and says that the children and assumes that they NEVER had health insurance. It also makes a bogus assumption that the population of children who are uninsured match those that are insured. This is a blatant false assumption used to get a desired result. It's no different than the misinformation given out by liberals when they say there are 47 million uninsured. They never admit that 25 million of this number are uninsured on average less than 3 months, and that there are 13 million undocumented aliens in the number as well. Until we make decisions based on real data, rather than trumped up data, we'll continue down the path to ruining what's right with our healthcare system, and not solving the problem with what's wrong with it at all.

It is sad, but it is unlikely to change.

The 17,000 kids, and the 44,000 total uninsured who die each year from lack of health insurance have neither the money, nor the influence that it buys to make changes.

When all is said and done about the current health care reform debate it will end up being business as usual.

Big business will make more millions, and the poor will die. That's just the way it is.

The same people who will read this and be up in arms, do not have a second thought about killing hundreds of thousands of children by abortion. Either you are for children or you are not you can not have it both ways.

"Assuming that the insured and uninsured populations are identical, the difference in risk of mortality was 60 percent."

Thats a dangerous assumption, at least you bothered to put this in your article.

So what does our government do! They come up with a plan to steal more money from those childrens parents to pay for medical coverage.(NO choice) So where will these parents get the money? From the money used for food and clothing, heat and electricity, out goes the pet,

Instead they should be putting all citizens on Medicare 100% coverage. Taking Veterans and giving them 100% Medicare and disolving the VA Medical system so all veterans have exactly what citizens have. Our representative, who are way out of touch, would rather spend 80 Billion on six monthes worth of WAR, then spend 80 Billion on one year of medical health coverage for all its citizens.

Its going to cost a lot, but with the baby boomers already going on medicare, and the veterans health money being used for their medicare health coverage which they paid into all their lives. This is something we can afford. Insurance companies can make thier money on Life, auto, homeowners, RV, Boat, Motorcycly and all the other insurance they sell. Health is not somthing that should ever be valued in dollars. The health and welfare of our citizens is priority one in this nation.

Truly then can we hold our heads high as we will have not only kept that elusive promise to our veterans of liftime health care, but will also have given our citizens the chance, no matter how rich or poor, to live a full and healthiest life in the world.
