This information exchange is so unbelievable to me. In no other developed country does the country use an inappropriate business model like the insurance business model to deliver health care.
The USA health insurance business model is like playing the lottery with ones health every year. Shocking!
The insurance model works well for anomaly events like random house fires, but never for health care that requires a steady lifetime incline of care with age, even in best case scnerios.
Whether delivered by private or public corporations is irrelevant, the USA needs to study other countries business delivery models and get health care out of the insurance business model.

I bought my policy via ehealthinsurance.com, its OK to look for policies with them but DON'T BUY via them. You can save by then going direct to the health provider. I've had many problems with them, they are NOT agents nor can they help you like an agent does. Although on their site it states they will help, answer questions and advise they can't do this nor do they do that. So when you need changes and you will you'll be forced to deal directly with your provider anyway. So what is the advantage.
On top of this every time I contact them via phone or chat they ask for very personal info, even if I'm not making changes. Then I find that the info I gave out is used in a crime or identity theft. Which is interesting that this takes place when I contact them. Such as credit card info.
This might be since its a boiler room operation that uses India, PI and other 3rd world countries labor.
As a X customer I would steer clear of them

Hi Zena:
That is a lot of money to pay each month, and quite frankly, I would never want to pay that much, even with a great job!
I would encourage you to seek out govermental insurance help. You can receive health insurance without other incentives such as housing, food, or financial help. There are also some insurance plans that will allow you to get coverage for medication only without a full package.
Try www.hhs.gov
More than 30 states have what is known as High-risk pools which allows individuals who do not have insurance or cannot find insurance to have coverage through their state.
There are also discount cards, medication only insurance plans, etc. You just have to contact your state insurance department for further information. www.hhs.gov will be able to direct you.
If you live in New York: www.health.state.ny.us/heath_care/
Good luck!

I am not employed nor have cobra. I am paying private insurance via Blue Cross Blue shield HMO plan. It costs me $1,268.00 a month. I am struggling to pay the premium each month but feel I need to keep up with it as I have lower back issue and want to make sure coverage is available in case of emergency. Any suggestions on any other insurance plan or how I can reduce my current premium without losing too much in benefits?
Thank you.

Almost two years ago, I had to scramble to obtain private insurance when my employer went bankrupt (no Cobra available). I applied to three companies, each of which rejected one of the three individuals I was trying to cover. Now that I am working full-time again, I don't dare drop my private insurance, even though it is expensive and redundant with my new employer's plan, for fear of not being able to re-qualify for private insurance if I ever need it again.
