Thank you for highlighting the dangers in both cyberbullying and sexting. Our kids need to know that their actions have consequences- and parents need to be in constant dialogue with their kids about life in our fast paced world.

I hate the fact that people think they can pick on others that are smaller or even younger than them. They always find a way to do it, texting, internet, or even face to face. I have heard many times “if you wouldn’t say it to someone's face don’t say it on the internet or through cellular contact." I honestly think that all kinds of bullying should be exterminated. or put to a stop. Bullying may be a way for some one to fell better about themselfs but they should really look at what they are putting others through. they may not have the best life but that doesnt mean they have to make others' life a living hell.

Great article! Parents really need to be in the know about their kids e-lives these days.

The best tech safety policy for parents and kids is supervision, communication, education and trust. Parents need to be informed and familiar with all technology their kids are using - and discuss related issues like cyber bullying, sexting, textural harassment, cyber solicitations, social networking and Internet porn.

Let's Talk Teens, a new handbook for parents of teens, is now available at teenluresprevention.com

Teen Lures Prevention partnered with various national organizations to provide the best possible safety information, resources and outreach for parents and teens. By talking openly about relational aggression and sexual violence, we can

help put an end to such crimes against children and youth.

We need to make sure we keep the lines of communications open and that the kids have solid guidelines in regards to what is expected of them.

I agree some parental control tool may help, it just has to be the right one for your classroom, community center or household.
