I am running out of COBRA 63 years old and my so called Dr. reported on two items that caused denial by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Fl. Both incidents were not accurate, but the appeals will run too long for me to get insure if I win. Reported on an abnormal EKG which was part of a general exam and folloewd by an Echogram which ws normal-but nor reported and Interstitial Cystitis which was never spoken, nor diagnosed ever. I had three bladder infections in eight years.
I believe that insurance companies are urging doctors to do this type of inaccurate reporting for people over 55. How many free cruises do they get?

The government is good at pointing out the pitfalls of a government healthcare because lobbyists have given substantial amounts of money toward keeping things as they are. Why not check out the Danish health plan? Do you realize they have the best healthcare in the world. No, I am not Danish, never have been there. I'm just a mother of a child who had cancer and in spite of having insurance, I had to sell our house and work two jobs for several years after to payoff the medical bills. Both of my parents were also killed because they had HMOs. By the time a procedure was approved, their health had gone down to the point of no return. In addition, when I was young I worked for an executive of at a well-known Insurance Company that offered PPO & HMO coverage. This person was the one who told staffers to cut a doctor from their insurance if the doctor had given too many referals to a specialist. Yes, insurance companies track the doctors and how many referals. If too many are given in a year, the doctor is out. No wonder doctors are willing to wait. Most people in this country don't realize the things their insurance policy doesn't cover until there is a health issue in their family. Meanwhile, healthy people who think they have good insurance coverage are defending how things are presently. All I can say is...just wait until you are really sick. Unfortunately, our representatives have been corrupted by lobbyists. Various government agencys have borrowed money from various plans and the money is never repayed. It is a shame, because without our health, we are nothing. It is the same with money given to wheat growers. Wheat is in most of junk food, not just in bread. Obesity is a leading factor in most diseases. That money should be given to vegetable growers so fresh fruit and vegetable prices are lowered. If that happened, there would be a dramatic change in the grocery stores across the nation. People could afford fresh vegetables easily. Yet, nobody mentions that. Instead, we have Mrs. Obama planting a vegetable garden at the White House. A good photo op, but she is an intelligent woman who could have proposed something to really help people. Ah well, I'm just an old woman with many health issues myself.

Your spelling is pathetic. Take your time and possibly proof the text prior to releasing it.

Why can't medical professionals from each city donate service for their registered residents at least for acute conditions or to monitor a chronic condition? Perhaps, the "powers that be" can provide them with an incentive. Why do third world countries get humanitarians and U.S. communities can't take care of their own village?
With so many healers retired, now would be a good time to step up and volunteer their expertise. In this time of distress, there should be a law against people suing a credentialed samaritan medical provider.
There must be a way to get reasonable prices for prescriptions, is ANYONE seriously trying to work this out?

it is shocking that the purportedly richest country on earth has the worst health care system and the saddest patient stories.
what is wrong with our country?--greed and politics before people

You glossed over the issue of affordability. Most people have had some sort of medical issue in their life and insurance companies use that against to so you get rejected or rated up. In either case, while you state insurance can be obtained through a state program it is at a cost of 3 - 5 times the regular cost of insurance. How can anyone realistically expect any middle class or less person or family be able to afford $1000 or more per month for medical insurance with deductibles of several thousand dollars. The media should have been doing more to address the unaffordable issue of medical care. The entire industry, not just insurers, have gotten just out of control and are bankrupting the entire country slowly but surely. Working people do not see it because they are covered but wait until you lose your job. Old people who are covered by Medicare don't care about the rest of us.
It is time for a brave reporter to do a thorough review and report on what is really going on. Medical care is destroying us.

I am not comfortable having severe pain in every joint because of Rheumatoid Arthritis. I do go occasioally to my sliding - scale clinic. The Doctor prescribes my medicine and I can't afford to buy the 4-6 Medications. Although I like my Rheumatologist, she's the only physician there who has a polite personality.
My gynecologist lied to the director saying I didn't come to my last appointment with him. I came he refused to see me because I was a little late. Mrs. Rhonda Khan yelled at me in public, gave me a physical exam in the Pediatric Waiting Room. My representatives don't exercise empathy and are just plain bossy. To come to the Komed-Homan Clinic from my home I must spend money of Public Transportation, I don't always have money to come to the clinic. You can easily say find another clinic. Who can afford to do this?
