A Year After Its Emergence, H1N1 Swine Flu Lingers

Again, we begin the hindsight analysis of the H1N1 epidemic and wow, some vaccine companies made some money. Working in a regional medical center, I witnessed the devastation of this virus on people for over 9 weeks. When every single ventilator you have is being used by people in the throes of respiratory failure induced by influenza, you begin to understand the impact. Yes, it wasn't as bad as some had predicted, but natural phenomena are prone to that. We are lucky this didn't evolve into a worse case scenario. Those that second-guess the virologists/epidemiologists can be compared to people complaining when hurricane predictions were in their infancy- "Why wasn't my city totally destroyed? Darned forecasters, what do they know with their fancy satellite images and barometric sensors..."

We manufacture Infectiguard Hand Sanitizer. Due to over anxiety in the nation I made wrong decision to over manufacture the product leading to getting the company in unnecessary trouble which made me feel guilty and I submitted my resignation.

I hope the media doesn't exaggerate if things are not 100%.

I have only had one flu shot my entire life and that was the year I had the flu and pneomonia - never had either before that flu shot. I certainly don't get the flu shot and also don't get sick with anything more than minor colds....

we spend an enormous amount of money on worthless vaccines when the epidemiologic signs suggest that the population attacked by this new flu strain were very young, most H1N1 sufferers never interacted with a human being having truly lived during or in the immediate years after the spanish flu pandemic of 1918. maybe all we really need to do is make sure young people spend more time with the oldest adults and a good amount of this medicine as corporate profits ridiculousness might actually go away - not to mention the amount of history some of our future leaders might pick up in those sorts of meetings.

NOT a hoax. People I know who never got the flue through almost 10-20 yrs, got the flu in the spring this year after declaring the vaccine needless. After that, herd Immunity is taking over.

I am not fond of big pharma and highly suspicous of much produced, but am also really frustrated at a lack of respect starting out there for vaccines.

A friend caught chicken pox when a neighbor not only refused vacinations to her own but also let her kids run loose with it because she felt natural immunity was better. Wasn't around to pay the Dr. bills caused to others though.

The latest H1N1 craze is basically a ploy to sell or use vaccines that were never needed or even tested properly for this flu. If the general public knew the truth, they would be outraged that it was even allowed to be released.

Truth: Placebo effect has more to do with flu immunity than vaccination, that has never been effective at stopping the flu. They actually spread illness in small doses, hoping this will spread immunity - unproven science.

What the general public are not aware of - vaccines are basically a cocktail of dangerous poisons that through shots bypass a body's natural way to protect itself, and with 40+ shots now recommended for children before age of 6, some wonder why autism and ADD are now rampant. Bodies are not designed to assimilate poison, and vaccine companies spend big bucks to suppress truthful information.

Thank you for the link, but the British are hardly cut-and-dried about the flu itself. H1N1 definitely is making the rounds. That it is milder in impact than feared is wonderful news. As the article linked in the British medical journal says, it is always good policy to plan for the worst. That some people made alarming projections should not take away from the wisdom of anticipating that influenza can be deadly, and getting appropriate vaccines to avoid it. Fortunately, some of the worst fearmongering around the whole subject - those rightwingers in the US who implied that people getting the vaccine against H1N1 were in fact being targeted by the government and would be among the majority of those who succumbed as it was the government's engineered pandemic - can now be seen for the manipulative misleaders they are, so reminiscent of those who, when Clinton was President, insisted that the black helicopters were coming, and international stormtroopers were going to occupy this land any day. The trouble with the antivaccine agitation is that inoculations for children have fallen off in some areas, and we are seeing a rise in the old terrors of humanity, like measles and mumps, as a result. People need to get their shots - I remember what it was like having the fear of polio so bad people did not want to let their children go out in the summer.

Seems strange that "US news" plays up the pandemic fear, while contemporaries in the UK are advising the public that the risk and dangers over H1N1 were over stated and have links to profit-mongering by drug companies read the article in the British medical journal...
