Hospital Pharmacists: Unseen at Your Bedside

Reader Comments

Back to article

I am a pharmacist working for a central order pharmacy and it is wonderful that we have to review every medication for every patient. However, because no one realizes how essential our job is to healthcare, we are treated very poorly. Our company wants us to accurately enter at least 50 orders an hour while doing clinical work such as dosing antibiotics and heparin, watching for interactions, wrong doses, wrong directions and inappropriate therapy. Worst of all doctors have started writing more illegibly than ever which makes our job twice as difficult. Until people realize what we do, things will never change.
