It would be nice if this story included facts and/or statistics on how many test results are missed, or just plain lost, in hospitals that do not have an electronic health record. A recent AARP Magazine article, "Why Does Health Care Cost So Much," reports: "An estimated 20 percent of tests and radiological scans are repeated simply because they can’t be located or can’t be transmitted from one doctor to another in a timely fashion." The article actually points to health information systems as a way to improve this major drain on the U.S health system.
I would have expected a more in-depth report from U.S. News and World Report.

So why should our personal information be posted? When so many doctors disregard test results, what can we expect when 30-40 million more are put into health reform.
