Frankly, Those doctors who have a wait

and see atitude re the general population taking mega-doses of vitamin D3 are doing a great disservice since there have been NO demonstrated toxic levels of vitamin D. Also, while the question would benefit from a comprehensive study, there have been many studies that demonstrate the value of increasing our blood serum levels.

I don't think you even tried to research vitamin D's role in health.

Even in 2010, evidence from studies showed less, cancer, heart disease, stroke, and heart attacks (not to mention less flu and colds) with higher levels of 25(OH)D circulating in the body.

I hope you have made up for that by now with staying on top of the latest research on supplements (which is where all the action is, not DRUGS).

You can find all the studies that yu have been missing at lef.org by typing in the search box and on the next page looking to the left for "Magazine" and clicking on that label for a list of articles for the lay people citing the studies backing up what they say footnoted.

i dont understand these stupid articles, vitamin d has no sides so why stay on the low dose

i had all type of immune problems, with vit d 25oh 60ng/ml i solved all my flu/immune problems, there s no nedd to wait for somebody to tell me its ok, i take it and i check on myself immune system and all, definitely more reliable that trails on others

today we have all kind of tests available especially in nothern europe, tests at research levels not used even on trials, so what are trying to do with these articles keep people sick?

Yes we evolved under the sun, and it is absolutely critical to maintaining health. You will probably never hear this from your doctor, your dermatologist, or your american cancer society.

There is really no argument about it, there are hundreds of studies linking low vitamin D and lack of sunlight to illness and disease. You can't get adequate vitamin D from a glass of milk.

You need at least 5-10 in the sun, at least 3 times a week, and I would even add a supplement to that myself (cod liver oil), since the modern person is indoors most of his/her life. Why do you think cancer and other illnesses have skyrocketed in the last 100 years? It's because no one goes outside any more. What happens to a plant without sunlight? A person is no different, the effects just take longer to show.

Probably the two most powerful things a person can do for their health is adequate sunlight and hydration.

Let me guess what is going to happen. They will feed people with megadoses of D and will find out that its toxic in those amounts (since it accumulates in the body and doesn't comes out easily when taken more than needed). And then they will shout all over the world that people shouldn't take supplements of D, not even 200 IUs a day, because it's toxic. There is so much disinformation circulating because of things like that! I agree that D should be checked out, but please do it in a more reasonable way!

P. S. I think that the best way to get D (except from sun) is to eat fish like hering, salmon, sardines (search the internet) that have good amount of D and its hard to eat too much of it that way.

It's well proven that proper D3 levels will prevent about 80% of breast cancers, but you won't hear that from the Komen foundation and their pink ribons. It's ironic that the ad banner at the top of the page is for Komen. For lots of info on D3, do a serch for grassrootshealth. Lots of great stuff there.

Started taking 5000 iu vitamin a day,After a week i feel like all my joints are sore.My knees,hips,legs.Can i be taking too much.I do have diabetes 2 and cirrhosis of the liver.

Sometimes all these studies are just confusing! I'm a 40-year-old AA woman. Lean. Run marathons. And have a very low vitamin D level. I'm supplementing.

I as well was running very low on my vitamin d levels and have been taking 50,000IU per week. I usually get fatigued very easily and my bones aches without reason but these pills have helped especially because of the lack of sun where I live. Vitamin fortifies our bones and has many more uses especially for children and the elderly.
