even if you work out 7 days a week , you still gonna die , maybe you will be in better shape when you get to the pearly gates ??

I have type II Dieabetes. I see a specialist, and she told me one of the most important things you can do when you are eating is to watch the CARBOHYDRATES...not so much the sugars. The carbs are what matter and a good carb count per large meal is 30-45 per meal.
If you want a banana, let say as a snack, eat 1/2 earlier in the day and the other 1/2 later. Also, drink lots of water. I know we all have different glucose numbers, but those are some guidelines she gave me. You can also look online for carb counts in foods. Try to eat the whole grain breads, not white flour products. Remember this also, an apple should be the the size of a tennis ball, as should an orange (1/2 banana would work out to that size as well). Keep the fruits light as they are sugar/carbs.
I hope this helps some.

Cutting through all the false info, I started eating healthy and swimming at the YMCA one hour per day. Then I upped the swim to 1.5 miles per day, next I added one hour of gym. Now I'm doing three hours of swim, weight training and elliptical and the weight is melting off. Finally. I buy 10 cans of wild Alaska red salmon at Wal-mart per month. I buy Diet Mayo and make my own "pickle" (no sugar and no salt) which I refrigerate. I buy water-packed albacore at Costco. Tomatoes and avocados at the 99 cent store so I know that changing my diet is NOT expensive. I get no-sugar whole wheat /flax bread at Costco and I have 1/2 daily, sometimes spread with chopped egg and diet mayo. Yum. I buy Greek yogurt, add almond flavoring, walnuts and sweetener and that's dessert. I eat lots of apples. Three months of the year I workout with a personal trainer and he pushes me to do more at the gym. That's in Thailand where a personal trainer costs $15 per hour. At home, it is group classes at the Y. No one told me how to lick Type II Diabetes. I had to find out by myself, experimenting on my own. If a doc had told me I needed to work out 3 hours per day, I would have done this years ago. There is an assumption among docs that patients "know" what to do but refuse to do it. Nuts. I didn't know that Whoppers could kill you. I didn't know that NOT working out 3 hours per day would trash my pancreas. I read a lot of misinformation about going to the gym twice a week/20 minute workouts. It just isn't so. Why are the docs silent? Don't they care?

My husband was diagnosed Type 2 in January with 7.2% Of course his triglicorates, (sp), cholestrol , everything was out of wack. Portion control, slow carbs, and Vitamin b12 has dropped his sugar to 6.2% in 4 months, lost 30 pounds, and all his "stats" are close to normal. We both changed how we eat. Also the future of amputation, losing organs due to diabetes makes that soda, rice potato not very inviting. We have taken all added sugars out, and do not do diabetic foods. We don't miss it, and even our grandson who volunteered to go on same diet, spit out an oreo cookie. He said it taste like sugar and salt. Diabeties should be a wake up call to all to eat healthier, stay within your carb limits, stay alive. fitday.com has helped me track his carb intake, and so have all the diabetic sites that offer great recipes. Those with high numbers, give up the sugars, the french fries, the pizza, and watch it come down. Husband has stabilized with a high number of 125 now instead of of over 200. Good luck to all
