I don't think my husband is doing very well with Actos either. Since beginning taking it almost 2 yrars ago I have noticed a steady decline in his health and evidence of increased circulatory problems. since he has less energy he has gained wight on this drug, the bottom line that diabetics need to watch. I shared my concerns with him to no avail as the drug seems to be very good at masking the diabetic symptoms.

I took Avandia for one month when it first hit the market. I developed a SEVERE reaction and was hospitalized for a week from extreme edema, heart, and kidney problems. After edema subsided, I had developed neuropathy in my extremeties. Odd that the neuropathy coencided with the allergic reaction to this medication. Advandia is SUPER TOXIC to me and about 5 years later, I still have problems.

Ten years ago my Dad was on Avandia for a very short period when he wound up driving himself to the hospital. He had to stop to vomit blood several times along the way. He was bleeding internally but Drs. had a difficult time finding the bleed so they resected his lower bowel. He was ok for a while but this past December he passed away from cirrhosis/liver failure/liver cancer. None were alcohol related as my Father did not drink. It just seemed way too much of a coincidence that my Dad was virtually healthy one day and a few weeks after starting Avandia he was so sick, no real diagnosis as to why he was so sick. We found out two years ago he had cirrhosis and liver cancer. No one can convince me it wasn't Avandia and now maybe Lantis too that killed him. Diabetes is a horrible thing. My Dad did very well when they monitored his diet and exercise but the insurance companies only paid for so many visits to a nutritionist. Then my Dad went off the regular diet/exercise monitoring onto Avandia and Lantis. If they had continued to pay for nutrition and exerice monitoring he would be alive, healthy and diabetes free today - NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Insurance companies could really make a load of money if they would pay for diet and exercise monitoring instead of drugs that make people sicker.

Something smells fishy "Susan Baily". Most "friends" don't know the name or email address of the law firm their "friend" is working with. Perhaps you are more than a friend? Maybe an ambulance chasing lawyer in disguise?

There's an interesting website www.rateadrug.com that claims to collect side effect information without bias from the drug companies. I think they have a section on the diabeties drugs inc Avandia
