Thinking Pink Hasn't Helped Find Causes of Breast Cancer

The NCI is hardly the authorative source of objective cancer research. Just take an internal poll of their political views on abortion. One might find some skewing of their political biases leaning left. It's not hard to subconsciously overlook some cancer research which does not comport with one's biases.

You are what you eat. We must get back nature as much as possible for humans to survive. Grow your own vegetables, without chemicals or pesticides, use cow manure and compost your vegetable scraps. Eat raw and slightly cooked, whole grains, stay away from sprays, chemicals in cleaning products, and cities too. I know it sounds like an enormous task, but cancer has taken over so many people, it can be the downfall of the human race. We need to go back to basics, like the pioneers on yesterday.

I am a Community Health Major at a small university in Oregon. For my internship, I decided to join a class and go to Washington D.C. to work with the National Breast Cancer Coalition (NBCC) and become a trained patient advocate. I spent 4 days learning that breast cancer is NOT just one disease and other important biological aspects of breast cancer. On the last day, I was able to lobby on Capitol Hill for $150 million dollars for breast cancer research through the Department of Defense Breast Cancer Research Program. I know that this money I helped lobby for is going to research that makes a difference in reseach, not to an undisclosed location. NBCC funds innovative research and isn't afraid to push the envelope. Because of the DOD Breast Cancer Research Program, Dr. Dennis Slamon was able to create Herceptin, the first gene targeted therapy for HER2+ breast cancer. Although the funding and grassroots advocacy has come a long way, we still haven't eradicated breast cancer. NBCC needs as many people as possible to help advocate. WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION, NOT JUST WEAR PINK!! View the new campaign video "End Breast Cancer 2020" at breastcancerdeadline2020.org and find out how you can get involved and help in the eradication of breast cancer. We have to stand up against this disease and take ACTION! Hoping for a cure is letting the disease win. We need to ACT!! Come to the Anual Training Conference in Washington D.C. to become a trained patient advocate and become educated on breast cancer so we can join together and stop this horrible disease that is killing our loved ones.

Thank you,

As long as breast cancer and cancer for those matters are “big money” for the research groups. They will not find a cure. Cancer is "BIG Business" to the tune of a "multi-billion dollar industry".

People need to get off the poisonous foods that are in the American Diet. Say no to the chemicals additives that are put in most process foods. Say no to the fast food Trans fats. Say no to the chemical dyes that are put in foods. Say no to any name of a food additive that you can not say and/or you don’t know what it is. Say no to bug sprays in foods. Say no to soda especially ones with chemical dyes and lots of sugar. Say no to high fructose corn syrups. Say no to wheat processed food products.

People need to be more mindful of the cleaning chemicals they use in their home or around their house or just more mindful of the chemical they are exposed to on a daily basis.

People need to be more mindful of the x-rays that they get. Do you really need all those x-rays? Radiation dose not just leave your system. You have to take certain vitamins and steps to get the radiation out of your body.

Researchers are too busy trying to find a drug to solve the problem of cancer instead of looking at the people who have cancer and trying to find out how they poisoned their bodies to begin with to get cancer. Cancer is a sign that the body’s immune system has broken down and can not fight back. The cure to cancer will be found in getting the poisons out of the person body and/or their surroundings. It will more than likely not be found in a pill.

As long as people keep eating poisonous foods, drinking poisonous drinks and breathing in poisonous chemicals or even getting these poisons on their body, there will continue to be people with cancer. Cancer is a sign of a poisoned body. You only need to go and look and see all the poisons that people are putting in their bodies. You can start by doing this by going to the stores and start reading labels of foods and cleaning products. Look at the bug sprays chemicals and what they are made of. If they can kill a bug do you really think they aren’t somehow killing you? It might not be right away, it might just be with cancer or some other disease.

My wife has battled breast cancer since 2001 and is now in the throes of metastatic breast cancer. Only when she was in the hospital in 01 did we see anyone from the "society". And all they did was drop off some pamphlets... nothing since, great job. Hey, but as long as they have their wine galas and art auctions, and the bigshots get their tax deductions and praise from the media its doing its job, right?

Not once have they even sent anyone to the chemo room to talk to or comfort patients, or advise my wife of any new treatments etc... they are perfectly useless.

I've noticed the exact same thing from the Alzheimer's Association.

Thank you U.S. News and World Report for pointing out a very very important point. I get discouraged when I see so much money going "somewhere" but apparently nowhere near revealing the true causes of the disease.

The Pink campaign does not seem to even begin to address the most suspect causes of breast cancer, namely PESTICIDES and PLASTICS (endocrine disruptors) and environmental IONIZING RADIATION. I refer you to The Enemy Within by EPA statistician Dr. Jay Gould, demonstrating statistic significance between dying from breast cancer and proximity to a nuclear power plant. Also see www.radiation.org and NutritionMission.org

Simply visit the US government Report on Carcinogens where you will find Carcinogens Listed in the Eleventh Report

A. Known to be Human Carcinogens

B. Reasonably Anticipated to be Human Carcinogens

Thank you again for your honesty and insight into the true issues here!

It is good to try to cure breast cancer. It's worth remembering, at the same time, that men are 40% more likely to die of cancer than women, and 16% more likely to get it in the first place. But there is no equivalent ribbon for the main diseases of men (that I ever see) and no suggestion that somehow the medical establishment is anti-men. OK, perhaps this just means men need to get organized. (What colour ribbon for colon cancer?)

What I can't stand is the campaigns for "cancer awareness." Really? You think there are people in this country who don't know what cancer is? Who somehow manage to miss the billboards, TV commercials, and merchandise in every single store in the country? I think we're pretty much aware of cancer, thank you.

Enough with the galas and celebrity parties and single-handedly supporting the advertising industry. I won't give another penny until and unless I know what it is going to fund, and if it isn't to provide health care to cancer patients who need it but can't afford it, I'm probably not giving a dime.
