The point of the article was not to bash natural supplements, it was to tell people they need to be careful about what they are ingesting if they are going to be receiving radioactive iodine treatments for thyroid cancer. The people who commented obviously do not have any experience with thyroid cancer or they would realize that you must decrease your intake of iodine in order for treatment to be the most effective.
Jay of OH, if you or your husband were diagnosed with thyroid cancer and the doctor told you to stop iodine containing supplements in order for you maximize your chance for successful treatment, I would venture to guess you would take that advice.
You wouldn't have to stop the supplements forever, just before your radioactive iodine treatments and scans.

Another allopathic doctor attemting to discredit natural treatment!! Gee, remember how we were brainwashed to stay out of the sun... now we have sooo many illnesses due to Vit D depletion. But how many years has it taken for them to realize how important Vit D is NOW!
This patient was taking 20 selenium tablets -- he was overdosing himself and should have known better!
We cannot allow the FDA, AMA and others to take away our freedom to use natural supplements. And misinformation/comments by doctors such as this one should be ignored.
We DO NOT get the nourishment we need from our foods... (I agree with the above comment) food has changed.. it's all chemicals, hormonally enhanced, and nutritionally deficient.
I'd also like to add that most physicians receive very minimal hours of nurtritional study during med school and pretty much don't know ANYTHING about how to heal nutritionally.
Pharmaceuticals and hospitals kill more people each year than supplements!!!

My husband and I both take alot of natural supplements and we will continue to do so.....we don't get sick with colds or other things very often, feel more engergized and know they have helped us in our daily lives.....Our food supply is not what it was 50-60 years ago. That Dr. should do some research, instead of people reaching for the drugs, they should be trying natural supplements (not the drug store type) first, then resort to drugs if needed.
