FDA Comes Down on Chelation as Untested Autism Treatment

There is conclusive evidence in the medical literature supporting the facts that vaccinations contain neurotoxic metals(mercury or aluminum) and other immunotoxins that cause brain inflammation and are a major factor in autism, ADHD, and other conditions www.flcv.com/kidshg.html Leading neurologists have confirmed the connection.

Large surveys of parents of autistic children have found that toxic metal chelation is the most effective treatment of autism

John Best/Foresam;

Yes, yes, your point illustrates the clarity of your thinking, which is also demonstrated by the screed in which you claim that those pesky Jews are responsible for the recession: "[T]he Federal Reserve is owned by the Rothschild family, and we shouldn't be paying them any interest; if we did this, it would cancel our national debt."

Good thinking again, John--rather like the the cognitive heft you showcased in this expletive-laced rant at Obama because the president didn't change national vaccination policies after you sent him a letter. You addressed the President as "You and your f-ing bureaucrats down there in D.C., you bribed mother___ers . . . you son of a b___." Perhaps that explains why the President, like so many others you encounter, just can't take your seriously.

Abel W, There are no scientific arguments that can counter what I said. That's why you have to use ad hominem instead of presenting those alleged arguments.

Mercury kills brain cells, a fact that is not disputed by anyone. As long as the mercury remains in the brain, more cells are killed. Removing that mercury stops the damage and the brain can recover.

John Best of NH 7:40AM October 20, 2010

Yes, John, you're undoubtedly the one-man truth squad that can expose the fact that the overwhelming weight of the scientific evidence counters your argument only because those who have a better background in science and medicine than you have disagree with you simply because they're all part of the conspiracy.

abelW of CA 8:54PM October 18, 2010

Abel W, Anyone who wants to tell the truth about how mercury causes autism knows that mercury leaves the bloodstream within a matter of days. We also know that it can remain in the brain forever, especially in those people who have the APO-E4 protein and are incapable of excreting it.

It's a common ploy amongst the Pharma agents who infest the internet to present the same stupid argument as you did. Fortunately for the readers, I checked back here to find your dishonesty and expose it.

John Best of NH 2:52PM October 18, 2010

John Best wrote: “…kids with autism have elevated mercury levels…"

Not on this planet.

The authors of a recent large study from the UC Davis MIND Institute concluded: “After accounting for dietary and other differences in Hg exposures, total Hg in blood was neither elevated nor reduced in CHARGE [Childhood Autism Risk from Genetics and the Environment] Study preschoolers with AU/ASD compared with unaffected controls, and resembled those of nationally representative samples.”

This study was designed to overcome the limitations of earlier, much smaller studies, such as those on which Best must rely for what is clearly outmoded and incorrect information. It's best to keep up.

The thimerisol-autism link was invented and exploited by a doctor who's foundation stone LANCET article was later revoked for, among other things, the doctor's massive conflict of interest. I would want to be alarmed about a extraorindary dose of some source in addition to all of the thimerisol breakdown product I may have accumulated before I'd even dream of risky chelation. As kids we played a few times with small amounts open mercury, and I think I absorbed vastly more dangerous mercury from those brief experiences than from thimerisol, probably more, even, than from fillings.

Heavy metal poisoning does not "mimic" autism. It IS autism.

The reason kids with autism have elevated mercury levels is because many of them have the APO-E4 protein which means they are incapable of excreting any mercury. Autism and merury poisoning are synonyous, as well as Alzheimer's.

John Best of NH 2:49PM October 16, 2010

This is correct. However, studies have shown that elevated heavy metal levels are common among young children who show symptoms on the autism spectrum. Heavy metal toxicity MIMICS autistic signs and symptoms so many children are incorrectly diagnosed as autistic. So, yes, chelation only treats heavy metal toxicity. -But, with chelation treatment, symptoms can significantly decrease if not vanish. I have personally witnessed this (along with doubting therapists and physicians). DO NOT take the ability of knowledgeable physicians to successfully treat children with heavy metal toxicity!

Well, good luck with that.

There was disconcerting evidence from [Toxicol Appl Pharmacol 1992;114:88-96], however, that ALA may also alter the tissue distribution of mercury and other heavy metals. Although levels of inorganic mercury and methylmercury in the kidney dropped significantly, levels of inorganic mercury also increased significantly in the brain, lung, heart, and liver tissue. Methylmercury levels had also increased in the brain, intestine and muscle of the rats given ALA. [Alt Med Rev. 2002l7:456-471]
