i had transverse myelitis T-9 level , suffer pain ,tingling and spasticity which has intensified, i do have severe musle contractions that last over one hour @ times and is very very painful, it would be nice to diminish the intensity of this but i definetely do not want to cultivate an addiction nor cause any side effects from the use of marijuana. do you have any other suggestions?

I as well have MS, I have tried to in so many ways tried to justify why I have been given this horrid disease. And each day thank God I am able to still see and walk, not the best but at least. No more on the ground gardening, horse back riding, dancing,or running with my children or grandchildren. But still functioning. I as well have been on all most ALL the MS drugs Avonex, Rebif, Tysabri POSS for PML, Copaxone. I am with Cheryl from NC I have NEVER done anything illegal BUT I am at the point of giving it a good try. My kids as well tell me the same things & Montel does use it . I as well have Migraines, Fibromyalgia, and several others I am just SO VERY TIRED of all these MAN MADE MEDICATIONS THAT DO NOT REALLY WORK!!!!!!! I just wish we could all find DR.s who would be willing to work with us on a more natural holistic way. I feel the DR.s if they so choose for MS patients should be able to give us permission for marijuana in every state. If the Dr. has the proof we are ill the states and government should NOT step in

I was diagnosed with MS in 1999. I know I had it 5 years previously. My immune system is so horrific that every thing I try for Ms I build up an immunity in a short period of time. I tried Novantone and got

congestive Heart Failure and alm ost died. I tied Tysabri and I was positive for the PML and the Tysabri antibodies. All i got from that was the serious side effects which I'm still trying to work out of my body. The next step for me is the new drug Fingolamod. In the meantime, my kids are so sick of all these drugs, the heck I have been through and the terrible diseases I have acquired due to thhese drugs, like

restless Leg, IBS Fibromyalgia,

sleep Apnea, Chronic Fatigue and Diarrhea, Migraine Headaches, just to name a few. They don't smoke Marijuana but keep telling me Montel Williams does and for what I'm going through dail, I should give it a try. I have always been afraid of all street drugs and never tried any. I am at the point where I may give it a whirl. I've done all the shots, Chemo, Cellcept, steroids, Tysabri and nothing good has come from any of them. Just maybe this "Is" the answer for me personally. Different solutions for everyone.

Take the buzz out of THC? Haw Haw Haw! Obviously, they needed someone with some science knowledge running the show, not some relic Victorian Era cracker who got the job from a crony. Try taking the H2O out of water.

TRY to walk in her shoes for ONE day!! I too have MS and if it helps, doesn't require liver panel tests, no side effects?? But they will go clear to the rainforest to make medicine which really doesn't even help as well... I hope your sister does well,,,I have had MS since 1982 am 56 years old and can still walk without assistance if that makes you feel better. God Bless

First off, if you don't have the illness, or know someone with it, you really aren't in a position to be negitive about anything that may help people fighting this disease. I watch my sister, who's only 27 years old, try to keep fighting, what looks like a loosing battle everyday of her life. These prescriptions that are given to her aren't doing a damn thing for her. So if marijuana can help her in any way, I'm all for it. And guess what, I'm going to find a way to get her some to.

I was just diagnosed december 2nd 2009 with primary-progressive ms. I have been a user and It is probably safe to say I do abuse it. However I have nothing else yet to do with my time and it helps on my stress. I am still trying to get use to this new way of living. Noone can even begin to imagine how I am feeling unless you are also a ms patient! I am searching for the answers and financial help. This has been a rough road but I am a strong woman and will find my way. God Bless all!

Just one question for Dr. Rodriguez: So Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft and other's anti-depressants are not considered "if they want to try it they should try it. They should understand that there is a potential for it to be habit-forming," but Cannabis-is?

Lulu of CO 7:42PM January 07, 2010

I have MS and only recently began using cannabis as pain reliever. And I have to say, If you DO NOT abuse it you don't have to worry about habit forming, but it does help, TREMENDOUSLY for both- pain and spasms. And on even more positive side-it helped me overcome severe depression. Most of us, who have MS, probably familiar with severe depression outbursts beside everything else we have to deal with. And I no longer use RX anti-depressants or spasm control medication. Cannabis does help and in perspective-much more natural remedy for pain, spasm and mental side effects of MS than any RX medication. This is great research, that should definitely continue. Thank you.
