Yes sadly I am another one of the many who tried everything else that didn't work. I just called Canada for more and found out they don't have it anymore...Merck needs to make it available by script or just raise the price point so that it is profitable...we sufferers will gladly pay for it.

If there are so many of us who know that Drixoral was the only thing that really worked to relieve our allergies, how is it that it wasn't profitable enough for continued manufacture. I echo all of the frustration of my fellow allergy sufferers who have commented here!

Now drixoral is no longer available in Canada. I have no idea what to do. Tried all the newer generation allery meds which don't work. Lodrane has been pulled from the market too thanks to the FDA. I have severe environmental allergies and rely on drixoral to get rid of vertigo/nausea. Nothing else works. I'm open to suggestions but if anyone tells me to try Clarition d again I will scream.

Your comment is completely erroneous. There is no investigation going on about dexbrompheniramine maleate or any other ingredient in Drixoral. I am not sure where you heard this or if you are confusing it with something else. Dexbrompheniramine maleate is a great antihistamine that has been used for over 50 years without causing any untoward side-effects. I need it now and can no longer get it. I have severe enough allergies that I may die without it! Merck/Schering has pulled it because of low profitability compared to the less-effective newer antihistamines like Claritin and Allegra. And your link shows nothing about dexbrompheniramine maleate in WebMD. Researching for Drixoral on that site just gives the usual precautions for all antihistamines.

I took it for years for allergies and never made me anger or murderous maybe you had a reaction to one of the ingrediants,no need to pull for so many people it gave allergy relief too with no side affects.no other allergy meds have come even close to aleveting my allergies as well as drixoral did.

Dear US News: Have you considered running an update to this article? I have never found an allergy medicine that works as well as Drixoral. I've had 2 doctors tell me that only Zyrtec comes close to the effectiveness of the older allergy meds, such as Drixoral. Now I can no longer order it from Canada. I called Merck Consumer Relations today. They told me they would pass my comments along to Merck. But I feel like Merck needs to hear from a reliable consumer news source that we need medicines like Drixoral.

None of the newer medications work as well as Drixoral. Ask anyone who has used Drixoral. None of the "5 things you can do..." bring much relief at all. Why is it that when something really works, the manufacturers can't get rid of it fast enough? Make something cheaper and less effective if it will increase profits, I guess.

I, too, found the green Drixoral a lifesaver! My allergies affect the tubes in my ears, causing vertigo and a slight nausea sometimes. Those pills saved my life when I had an attack and had to take care of two little kids! Nothing else works as well, not even the white pills from Canada (Disophrol Repetabs). Am getting discouraged, as it has been so long since they said they may come back. We're not getting a straight answer, but I sure wish they could work out the bugs and get it back on the market!!!

I have found nothing which approaches Drixoral in effectiveness. If it has to be made available only by prescription and cost 2-3 times as much, I'm fine with that - even out of pocket. I've tried literally dozens of other products; none even approaches Drixoral for effectiveness.
