Drixoral: Why the Allergy Medicine Isn't Available, and What to Use Instead

You whiny turds make me laugh. Let me fill you in...you can't get drixoral anymore because when my buddy Brady and I were teenagers we stole every box in existence. Never made meth tho. That shizz is for wack trash retards. Yeah I said it. Now here's where it gets good. ONE Drixoral Cold and Cough luiqicap was capable of killing every virus within 10 miles for several years...so Brady and I would take 20. In about 30 minutes you'd start puking gallons of bright red horribleness. Within an hour the terror would begin. You'd begin to see 6 of everything from top to bottom and an additional 6 of everything from side to side. You were being sucked into the earth so when you walked it was absolutely critical that you lift your knees all the way to your chest in order to pull your feet out of the ground...there was nothing you could do about your arms, however, so your arms and shoulders hung straight down into the earth. And your skin was on fire, especially on your head, so there were giant welts all over from the scratching and your hair was all over the place. You couldn't hear a damn thing so it was necessary to scream at anyone you may have tried to talk to but that was fine because there was NO ONE you wanted to talk to due to the fear that they may have noticed something wasn't quite right about you. And you absolutely could not punch through walls no matter how hard you tried but you were definately going to try at some point during the experience...hence the "Fight Harder" portion of the Drixoral experience. More than likely you were going to cry hysterically about something that never really happened when you were 5 yrs old. And it is not advisable to attempt a trip to Dairy Queen for some dilly bars because you may wind up in Detroit somehow...yes I drove while on Drixoral...which should tell you all you need to know about how awesome my driving skills were/are, even at 16 yrs old, considering what I've described above. Now, you may be saying to yourself "Jesus Christ, that sounds like the most horrible freaking thing imaginable"...you would be correct. Every bit of it was a god damn nightmare. And the worst part of it lasted about 12 or so hours.

You pansies out there would probably not go through that kind of living hell twice. We did it every day for a month straight. Know why? Because we wound up having some pretty messed up stories to tell instead of crying like little bitches about our allergies. True story.

I started using 12 hour Drixoral in the mid 1970s without any side effects. My wife and I purchased it in bottles of 100 from a local Kroger store in Lewisville, TX. The cost, about $25/100. Never had a problem with it. I venture to say that the feds got involved and created the problem with honest everyday Americans being able to purchase it due to one of the drugs that made them work so well. Government always screws up things. Too much nanny state. V. Bennett hit the nail square on the head. One solution would be to ban all trees and shrubs that cause allergies: cotton wood, mountain cedar .... the list goes on. Come on you bureaucratic idiots, lighten up. Just like gun control, the only people that this will inconvenience is the hard working, everyday American tax payer, not the criminals.

Does anybody really believe that this behind the counter B.S. is stopping people from making meth??? If it is profitable, the druggies will find another way to get the ingredients. All this does is punish those of us who have allergies. I used to be able to buy a month's supply of Drixoral in one bottle, off the shelf. Now, I am miserable and can't find an adequate replacement. Thank you FDA.

This article, written in 2007, says that Drixoral was off the market but not permanently. Well, here it is 2013 and I still can't get it. Why?

I mhave used Drixorl for over 40 years when it was only available as a persription and later after it became over the counter med. I used it to control nasel Polyps

stuffed sines and over all breathing. Now all I have is a runny nose, stuffed up nose, light head ake etc, etc, all other over the Counter and preception med don't seem to work.

As a side effect I do have High Blood pressure now and then.

this is baloney it is 2013 and Drixoril is still not back on the market.

I have no interest at all in the decongestant medication the antihistimine Brophenirimine is what i am after. I used to get BPM tablets made by Boca Pharmaceuticals through Rx but now they are gone too.

Claratin Zyrtec and Allegra are just no good by comparison and Benedryl (diphenhydramine) makes you drowsy.

all i remember drixoral works with just a smll amount of use--sure miss it-

When drixoral was first introduced, it was a prescription. Maybe it should return as a prescription. Those of us who have used this product for 40 yrs. also do many other things to keep from getting a sinus infection(nose spray, irrigating nasal passages, allergy meds) but still need drixoral and nothing else works. We are in trouble!

Anyone else experience the consequences of the unavailability of Drixoral? I accepted it until I found some Drixoral as old as 5 years AND it still works! None others work well. The following is part of a letter that I have written to my Congressman/woman, the President of the US, and the FDA. I would like to revisit the issue.

Quite a few years ago, and after going through a myriad of allergy medications, my doctor found one that relieved my allergies, Drixoral.

It is my understanding that Drixoral has been indefinitely discontinued because one of its ingredients, pseudoephedrine, can be used to make methamphetamine.

Since then once again I am going through the process of trying different allergy medicines. None work satisfactorily and I suffer frequently as a result. Recently I found some old Drixoral and have been taking it. Even though it expired years ago it still works. I had forgotten what it was like to be allergy free. The fact that Drixoral has been pulled off the market and no suitable substitute is available is a problem not only for me but for many, many others. I have been on several user forums and know that others still suffer with no relief or suggested alternatives. Supposedly Drixoral is available from other, questionable sources. I have not tried any of these yet but probably will soon. This puts me at risk of getting bad medicine. I don’t understand why Drixoral can’t be prescribed and regulated like other controlled substances.

I've recently written my Congressman/woman, the President of the USA, and the FDA.

It is now 2012, Why is Drixoral still not available. Schering-Plough Corp., now Merck gave us false hope. I have been purchasing from Canada since 2008 and now is it no longer available there. If it is not that is medication is the best on the market then it is habit forming and what are those suppose to do to have a life.

This is not about a typical runny nose, itchy eyes or light sinus pressure. This is about suffers who can not drive or walk because of vision and balance issues. Pressure that makes your head fill like the top is going to blow open. Eardrums burst because of pressure.

Why can they not make it prescription and not make it readily avaiable for misuse.
